Building the Habit of Reading: A Journey to Literary Pleasure
Hello everyone!
I'm María José Castaño, and I want to ask you a question that many people have rolling around in their heads lately:
Have you ever set out to take up this habit again and felt that it's a difficult mountain to climb? Probably so and that's why I share with you these lines to guide you on this journey towards literary pleasure in a sustained manner over time.
Reading is more than a simple activity; it is a door to infinite worlds, to emotions that transform us and to knowledge that enriches us. However, sometimes modern times take us away from this enriching habit. But I can guarantee you that there is a way back to take it up again or build it from scratch.
To begin with, I want to share with you a tool that will be of great help in this process: My "Commitment template". Download it and use it as your personal map in this journey. This template will help you set realistic goals, plan your reading time and track your progress.

But how can we build this habit in a sustained way over time?
Here are some simple but powerful tips that I hope will help you on your way:
1- Find your ideal time: We all have moments of the day when we feel more relaxed and receptive. It can be in the morning with a cup of coffee, in the afternoon after work or before bed. Find that time and make it sacred for your reading.
2- Variety is key: Don't limit yourself to one genre or type of book. Explore different themes, styles and authors. Variety will keep your interest alive and open you up to new literary experiences.
3- Make it part of your daily routine: Just as you brush your teeth every morning, make reading an indispensable part of your daily routine. It may be just 15 minutes a day, but do it consistently.
4- Create a cozy space: Dedicate a space in your home where you feel comfortable and relaxed to read. It can be a corner with a comfortable chair, a soft blanket and good lighting.
5- Share your reading: Talk about the books you are reading with friends, family or in online communities. Sharing your impressions and discoveries will make reading even more rewarding.
Remember that this is a personal and unique journey for each of us.
Don't compare yourself to others and celebrate every little accomplishment along the way. And if you need an extra boost, feel free to join my course on Domestika, "Reading for writing" where I will guide you step by step in building your reading habit and show you how to make the most of it in your writing process.
See you between the pages!
Maria José.
